BAND/CHOIR GRADING POLICY

BAND/CHOIR GRADING POLICY

Band and choir students earn up to 10 points each day, determined by whether they have all instruments and/or music needed, and effort put forth.  This is listed as "class work" on their progress reports.  At the beginning of each grading period, this is all or most of the grade earned.

Performance tests (singing, dancing, playing instruments) are given from time to time to measure each student's effort at learning their parts.  Each test will count as 10% of the grade, up to a total possible of 50% of the grade, but usually not carrying more weight than class work.  Other tests may be given as well, such as pencil tests, or just having music or other materials on hand.  Written tests may also be given as appropriate.

Each performance is 10% of the final grade.  Students with an excused absence may make up the grade by writing a paper.  Students missing a performance because of another school activity (approved by Mr. Phenicie) do not need to make up the absence. Wearing the proper band or choir outfit is part of this grade.
